2016 Foodways Networking Event on Wednesday, May 11th, 2016.
Featuring discussions on Wasted Food, School Garden Programs, Buying/Eating Local and Southern Maryland’s Emerging Ag & Food Innovation Center.
SESSION I – Open Networking (6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.) Meet with others interested in food-related topics.
SESSION II – Discussion/Action Groups (6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.) Register for one of these four pre-selected topics and learn more about what’s going on locally and how you can become involved.
• Update on the Emerging Southern Maryland Ag & Food Innovation Center. Learn about an emerging Food Hub coming to Southern Maryland, provide input and discuss ways to get involved.
• Buying Local/Eating Local: Help! Where to Go?! Engage in a discussion about different ways to buy local and connect with others who are passionate about purchasing locally.
• School Garden Program (edible gardens, tastings, curriculums, field trips).Learn about the resources available to schools and discuss the opportunities and challenges.
• Wasted Food: Food Recovery in Southern Maryland. Learn about what is happening with surplus (wasted) food in one Southern Maryland County and discuss ways to develop food recovery initiatives.
